ATC Operations

July 1, 2022: Stations where LDC work requiring a transmission bus outage could cause islanding concerns: Auburn, Barton, Butternut, Creekview, Hartford, Rubicon, St. Lawrence.

October 1, 2021: ATC’s operating studies indicate possible need for Neevin Generating Station, De Pere Generating Station, and Fox River Generating Station unit dispatch for the dates noted below. However, required dispatch will depend on MISO designation through its normal dispatch processes which considers availability of other units as well as system load forecast level and any unplanned transmission outages. This is related to MISO CROW outage # 1-17809866.

March 26, 2021: ATC has scheduled work for Protection Upgrades that will require Neevin Generating Station to be offline on March 29, 2021.

August 11, 2020: ATC’s operating studies for 10/3/2020 through 11/8/2020 indicate a likely need for Neevin Generating Station unit dispatch. However, required dispatch will depend on MISO designation through its normal dispatch processes which considers availability of other units as well as system load forecast level and any unplanned transmission outages.

October 03, 2018: ATC has scheduled work for Communications Upgrades that will need Presque Isle Generating Station below 210MW on October 9, 2018, from 0900-1700 Central Time. Required Presque Isle Generation dispatch will depend on MISO designation through its normal dispatch processes which considers availability of other units as well as system load forecast level and any unplanned transmission outages.

September 7, 2018 (Update to August 22, 2018 Posting): ATC’s operating studies indicate possible need for Neenah Generating Station and Sheboygan Energy Center unit dispatch for the dates noted below. However, required dispatch will depend on MISO designation through its normal dispatch processes which considers availability of other units as well as system load forecast level and any unplanned transmission outages.

The need for the units is based on specific voltage support requirements for non-ATC activities, therefore no specific MW level is required. ATC’s operational studies shows the most likely time that at least 1 Neenah or Sheboygan Energy Center unit is needed is anytime ATC load is at 7500 MW or above. Other area generation and reactive resource status will also affect when units are needed. At this time ATC is unable to provide more details since the need depends on the load levels experienced along with the generation dispatched by the MISO market tools.

September 5, 2018: The De Pere generator should be highly available through September 7th, 2018 for MISO CROW# 1-19349189. The most likely run time hours are during the higher load period of the day, 1000-1800. The unit is likely not required unless a forced outage (generation or transmission) occurs. Dispatch will depend on MISO designation through its normal dispatch processes which considers availability of other units as well as system load forecast level and any unplanned transmission outages.

August 22, 2018: ATC’s operating studies indicate possible need for Neenah Generating Station and Sheboygan Energy Center unit dispatch for the dates noted below. However, required dispatch will depend on MISO designation through its normal dispatch processes which considers availability of other units as well as system load forecast level and any unplanned transmission outages.
