PacifiCorp Integration Benefits Study Posted, Call 10/16/15
Summary
The California ISO, PacifiCorp and Energy Environmental Economics are hosting a joint stakeholder call on October 16, 2015 to discuss the results of a study examining the benefits of combining the electric grids operated by PacifiCorp and the ISO.
Main Text
The ISO, PacifiCorp and Energy Environmental Economics (E3) are hosting a joint stakeholder call on October 16 to discuss the results of a study conducted by E3 examining the benefits of integrating PacifiCorp and ISO into a regional energy grid. The study and other related documents are available on the ISO website at http://www.caiso.com/informed/Pages/RegionalEnergyMarket/BenefitsofaRegionalEnergyMarket.aspx.
The study shows that integrating the two systems will produce significant cost benefits to customers as a result of more efficient grid management and resource planning. The study also finds that a regional grid with PacifiCorp and the ISO will likely reduce greenhouse gas emissions through coordinated planning, less curtailment of renewable energy and lower overall costs to integrate more clean energy resources.
Representatives from PacifiCorp, ISO and E3 will outline the study's findings as well as be available for questions. In addition to the study, a news release and FAQ are also available here.
