    Welcome to Kansas City Power & Light Company (KCPL)


    KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company and Kansas City Power & Light Company terminated the following Open Access Transmission Tariffs:

    • GMO's FERC Electric Tariff, Seventh Revised Vol. No. 24 including all schedules and attachments, effective as of Oct. 13, 2016 (see FERC Docket No. ER17-70)
    • KCP&Lís FERC Electric Tariff, Third Revised Vol. No. 3 including all schedules and attachments, effective Dec. 11, 2016 (see FERC Docket No. ER17-72)

    FY2014 Transmission Formula Rate True-Up for Kansas City Power & Light Company and KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company was posted on June 1, 2015.

    May 18, 2015, Kansas City Power & Light Company and KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company submitted revisions to formula rate protocols further addressing (1) the scope of participation in Information Exchanges surrounding annual rate updates; (2) the transparency of the information exchanged; and (3) the ability to challenge a Transmission Owner's implementation of its formula rate.

    Sept. 24, 2014, the Annual Update transmission formula rate template and other related information was posted in the Formula Rate folder.

    A Compliance Filing Revising Formula Rate Protocols submitted to FERC on Sept. 15, 2014 in Response to Docket Nos.
    EL14-74-000 & EL14-75-000 is available in the "Formula Rate" folder.

    Information related to the true-up, as specified in the KCP&L and the KCP&L GMO Formula Rate Implementation Protocols, was posted June 2, 2014 in the "Formula Rate" folder under 2014 Information.

    Feb. 11, 2014, a revised transmission formula rate template for Kansas City Power & Light Company was posted in the "Formula Rate Information" folder.

    Oct. 3, 2013, a Depreciation Rate Filing was submitted to FERC in Docket No. ER14-22. A copy of that filing is in the "Formula Rate Information" folder.

    Sept. 24, 2013, the Annual Update transmission formula rate template and other related information was posted in the Formula Rate folder.

    Formula Transmission Rate information for KCP&L and for KCP&L GMO was posted Nov. 16, 2011.

    Information related to the true-up, as specified in the KCP&L and the KCP&L GMO Formula Rate Implementation Protocols, was posted June 1, 2011 in the "Formula Rate" folder.

    A Depreciation Update Filing was submitted to FERC under ER11-3226, effective 6/4/2011. A copy of that filing is in the "Formula Rate Information" folder.

    The Annual Update transmission formula rate template is now available in a folder on the left side of this page. It provides the annual revenue requirements and rates that are effective for service using the company's transmission facilities during calendar year 2011. This Annual Update posting is in accord with the Order of Chief Judge Granting Motion for Interim Rate Relief issued Oct. 6, 2010 in FERC Docket ER10-230.

    July 30, 2010, in accordance with the requirements of FERC Order 714, Kansas City Power & Light Company submitted the baseline filings of its OATT. Visit the "OATT Information" folder to review the new OATT and the filing's cover letter.

    FERC's Jan. 5, 2010 order conditionally accepting and suspending proposed tariff revisions and establishing hearing and settlement judge procedures related to the transmission rate formulas mentioned below is available in the "OATT Information" folder located on the left side of this page.

    November 6, 2009, Kansas City Power & Light Company (KCP&L) and KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company (GMO), subsidiaries of Great Plains Energy Incorporated, submitted to FERC an application to implement transmission rate formulas for the KCPL and GMO zones of the Southwest Power Pool Regional Transmission Organization. The filing is available in the OATT Information folder. The changed rates will affect all wholesale transmission service customers using the KCP&L and GMO transmission networks under either the SPP Regional Open Access Transmission Tariff or the GMO OATT. A January 1, 2010 effective date has been requested.

    New requests for transmission service using the Kansas City Power & Light Company transmission system must be arranged through the Southwest Power Pool.



    July 14, 2008, Great Plains Energy (parent company of Kansas City Power & Light Company) acquired Aquila, Inc. and its Missouri electric operations.
    The former Aquila Missouri electric operations are now KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company. Both Kansas City Power & Light Company and KCP&L-GMO do business as KCP&L.
